Thika Greens Opens Door for Golf

The Inaugural Golf Tournament at the brand new Thika Greens Golf City was home to the Maina Kageni Golf Challenge on Saturday. A huge field of 277 players played the par-72 golf course for the first time. With most holes playing against the wind and with 13 holes having water hazards, it was a challenging day for a lot of players. The greens were a huge delight for most, though, playing at standards sometimes only seen at the Kenya Open.

Deputy President, William Ruto, dropped in for a quick lunch and was awed by the view from his seat in the clubhouse and was spotted clutching some Thika Greens brochures, no doubt wanting to own a piece of the beauty that he saw over lunch.

Big events at big places attract only big names and that was the case yesterday in as far as sponsors were concerned. Famous Grouse, the internationally revered whiskey were present, also showcasing their other brands, Famous Black Grouse, Highland Park Single Malt as well as their exclusive range of Macallan Single Malt brands. RMA, the exclusive dealers of Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar were also present, showcasing their internationally famed brands. Sarova Hotels and Heritage Hotels also supported the hugely successful event.

It was a day of fun and celebration for all. Golf-wise, it was a great experience. Especially for George Karugu, playing off 7, who won the Men's overall prize with a great score of 39 points and Dr Michelle Muhanda who won the Ladie's top prize with a solid 36 points.

And That's thesteifmastertake!!
