Western, Southern and Rift Valley Teams Book COPA Provincial Final Slots

The last remaining slots for the COPA Coca-Cola provincial finals were filled this past weekend in Western, Southern and Rift Valley B branches.

Bulimbo Academy and Murhanda Boys were the biggest benefactors from Western Branch after they grabbed vital wins that ensured they squeezed through to the provincials in spite of stiff challenge from Busia Olympic and Ebusiratsi Boys.

Murhanda won their match 3-0 against Kabras Juniors, Brian Lusamhukha netting a brace after Hilton Isutsa had put them ahead in the 9^th minute. Bulimbo Academy had Dalmas Otisa and Ibrahim to thank after the duo netted in their 2-0 win over Ebusiratsi, a result that proved just enough to give them the provincial finals berth in spite of losing with the same scoreline against Busia Olympic, Joseph Mburu with the brace.

Murhanda Ladies and Ibinda Girls qualified from the ladies’ category, the latter beating Mukhombe Girls 2-0 courtesy of Mishel Indoshi’s 6^th minute opener and Laventine Lihemo’s strike 6 minutes later. Ibinda played to a drab 0-0 stalemate against Bulema Ladies but that was all they needed to advance.

In Rift Valley B branch, Kitale Union and Rangers FC eased past their opposition to seize the slots as Kuinet Girls and Kapsowar took the ladies’ honours. Matinyani Juniors and Kitui Township finished first and second respectively to set up a clash against Lower and Upper Eastern teams in the provincial finals, Mukuyuni and Makueni Redshooters picking the girls’ honors.

The provincial finals for the U15 spectacle resume this coming weekend in Central where teams from Aberdares and Mt. Kenya branches will square off in the provincial knockout matches with the winners in both the boys and girls matches qualifying for the national finals slated for mid August in Nairobi.
