Capital One Cup Third Round Ties

The draw for the third round of the English Football League Cup was released with five of the fixtures pitting Premier League teams against each other.

Arsenal will host Southampton at the Emirates, the Saints having beaten Championship side Millwall in 2-0 in their second round tie. Last year’s beaten finalists, Hull City will travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom while Crystal Palace will play Newcastle at Selhurst Park.

Other all-Premier League team fixtures will see Sunderland play host to Stoke City as Everton travel to Wales for their clash against Swansea City.

Current holders, Manchester City will start their title defence against Sheffield Wednesday at the Eitihad Stadium. Sheffield conquered Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor. Record champions Liverpool will host championship side Middlesbrough at Anfield, the two club’s last meeting dating back to over five years ago. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea were drawn to play Bolton Wanderers at Stamford bridge while Tottenham will welcome Nottingham Forest at the White Hart Lane.

Milton Keynes Dons who provided the one of the biggest upsets in League Cup history by hammering Manchester United 4-0 will hope for more of the same when they play fellow League One side Bradford City at Stadium MK. Leyton Orient will play Sheffield United, Cardiff host Bournemouth, Derby County host Reading as Burton Albion play Brighton & Hove Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.
