Football, Rugby, Sprint Relay to Spice up the 2nd Edition of SuperSport Media Fun Day

The second edition of the SuperSport media fun day will be held this Friday at the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) grounds.

A total of 10 teams will contest for this year’s honours including defending champions Bloggers who won the inaugural football tournament last year.

The online scribes have been pooled in the Group of Death which includes Standard Media who they beat for the trophy last year, Citizen who reached the semis, Media Max and SuperSport in a tough and tricky Pool ‘A’. Citizen and Standard Media are expected to give Bloggers a run for their money in the group with Media Max and SuperSport the dark horses.

An open Group B will see Nation Media Group take on national broadcaster, KBC, Capital FM, the dangerous Radio Africa and reigning plate champions Media Select. The one-day 5-aside tournament will be played on a round robin format with every match lasting only six minutes. The top two teams in every pool will qualify for the semifinals.

The organizers have expanded the competition beyond the football pitch as the six teams who wouldn’t have made it past the group stages will battle in a 5-aside touch rugby competition. The teams’ dexterity on the track will also be subjected to test with a 4x100 sprint relay also on the cards.

Trophies, medals and prize money will be awarded to the winners in a day that promises to be chock-full of fun, flair, sweat, comical kick-about and more besides.
