Coca-Cola Gives CECAFA Kshs. 6.5million Shot in the Arm

World renowned beverage giant, Coca-Cola, will pump Kshs 6.5 million into this year’s Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.

The tournament, slated for kickoff next week Wednesday November 27th, has attracted a host of sponsors including GOTv, UAP, Coca-Cola and county governments who will host this year’s tournament.

The company has committed Kshs. 1.5million towards providing refreshments to all the participating teams with the rest of the money channeled into the rest of the tournament.

The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will kick off on Wednesday next week, the same day that the FIFA World Cup trophy arrives in Kenya courtesy of Coca-Cola.

It is generally believed that some of the participating teams in this year’s Cecafa tourney will get a chance to view the World Cup trophy and take a picture next to it.

A total of 12 teams will participate in this year’s East and Central Africa football showpiece including hosts Kenya, defending champions Uganda as well as South Sudan, their neighbors Sudan, Rwanda, Eritrea, Somalia, Tanzania and Zanzibar. Others include Burundi, Ethiopia and guests Chipolopolo of Zambia.
