Sserunkuma-Gor Mahia Rekindle their Love Affair

Barely six months after ending his highly rewarding three-year association with Gor Mahia, Ugandan forward Danny Sserunkuma could rejoin the club before the second half of the Kenya Premier League season begins in June.

The pint-sized forward joined Kogalo in 2012 and led them to two successive KPL titles in 2013 and 2014 and was the club’s top scorer in all the three seasons. However, at the end of last season, ‘Muzee’ decided to cross over to Tanzania giants Simba SC who offered a more lucrative contract.

Things failed to work out though as he was limited to only 17 appearances, mainly as a substitute, with his goal five-goal tally pointing to a forward who was losing his spiky scoring form.

However, like a wise and hungry footballer who still has the love of the game at heart, Sserunkuma decided to terminate his contract, park his bags and wait for his agent to find his next destination.

As it turns out though, he didn’t have to wait for long. According to information from his former employers Gor Mahia, the Ugandan has signed an MOU that will see him rejoin the club when the KPL transfer window reopens for business in June.

Club assistant secretary Amina Oketch confirmed that the two-time KPL defending champions and current log leaders have held successful negotiations with the former Nairobi City Stars marksman. Sserunkuma reportedly attracted interest from Gor Mahia’s ‘Mashemeji’ rivals AFC Leopards but the forward made it clear he preferred a move to a club where he’s considered a legend in some quarters.

The return of the 25-year-old to Kogalo will strengthen their already lethal front line but his presence could also destabilize coach Franck Nuttall’s side who are currently unbeaten and playing like a well-oiled clockwork.

However, his return will be a headache that Nuttall and any other KPL manager will be happy to have.

And That's thesteifmastertake!!
