World renowned
beverage giant, Coca-Cola, will pump Kshs 6.5 million into this year’s Council
for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.
The tournament, slated
for kickoff next week Wednesday November 27th, has attracted a host
of sponsors including GOTv, UAP, Coca-Cola and county governments who will host
this year’s tournament.
The company has
committed Kshs. 1.5million towards providing refreshments to all the
participating teams with the rest of the money channeled into the rest of the
tournament.
The CECAFA Senior
Challenge Cup will kick off on Wednesday next week, the same day that the FIFA
World Cup trophy arrives in Kenya courtesy of Coca-Cola.
It is generally
believed that some of the participating teams in this year’s Cecafa tourney
will get a chance to view the World Cup trophy and take a picture next to it.
A total of 12
teams will participate in this year’s East and Central Africa football
showpiece including hosts Kenya, defending champions Uganda as well as South
Sudan, their neighbors Sudan, Rwanda, Eritrea, Somalia, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Others include Burundi, Ethiopia and guests Chipolopolo of Zambia.
